Amrit Kaur Bains is a multidisciplinary artist, who currently lives in Langley, British Columbia. She is a first generation Punjabi Canadian woman who first began painting in her Mum’s art studio as a child at the age of four years old. Amrit continued her passion for art into her adulthood, and now she shares it with her students in the classroom setting, and on a greater scale with her online community. Amrit wears many hats from being an artist, elementary teacher, sound bath facilitator, and meditation teacher. She finds great inspiration from nature, culture and traditional Indian Folk Art. She finds many of her art pieces are also inspired by stories passed down to her through her maternal lineage.
“To me, art is a form of expression. It’s intertwined in every aspect of our lives —even in things, and moments, that we’d consider mundane. Art is a means of connecting with the world around us, ourselves and each other. It’s spiritual. It’s the lense through which I see and experience the world, and I aim to share this love with those around me. Art has greatly shaped my teaching philosophy, and who I am as a being. Through my journey I’ve realized the intersectionality between art and spirituality in my life. I hope to share my work with the intention to inspire others to immerse themselves in the experience of storytelling through art.” — Amrit
